Haddie's 1st Birthday

My baby sister turned 1 years old yesterday.   I can't believe it's already been a year and oh what a year it's been!    Since we just moved to Austin a few weeks ago, it was exciting to have family at one of our birthdays.   Daddy took lots of pictures because lets face it, Mommy is not very good with the camera.  Here's what he came up with:

Love,
Emerson and Hadley

"Aunt Cookie made sister's cake... it was YUMMY!"

"Aunt Meredith, so what did you think of the potato salad?"
"Sister says that she plans on marrying Liam when she grows up"
"Oh yeah, I'm coming for you!"
"....on your marks... get set.... go"
"Mom, back away from the cake and nobody gets hurt"
"Yep, there's some vanilla in this for sure"
"Boy am I'm staying up late tonight"
"what you never saw a girl with frosting on her nose before"
"does this hat make my hair look big"
 "Jessica, you need a bandaid?"
 "Jessica, when you come next?"
"Nana, if you stop the flow of ice cream, you will not like what you see"
"Look at Pa Pa and Grandma... they're silly"
"Aunt Cookie, why don't you like your picture taken... you're beautiful!"
"So this is what I've been missing" "Can wait for Christmas!"

Long Time No See

It has been over four months since our last post and Hadley and I are so sorry about the delay. A lot has happened in the Barr household so time and access to our blog has been limited. At the end of August our family moved from the D.C. metro area to Austin, TX. Hadley, our parents and I have been here since August 31st and are working our way into getting settled and routines. Dad, Mom, Hadley and I drove over 1500 hundred miles with Bob our cat in one car... can you only imagine what that car ride was like :). At any rate, we made it and love all the space that we have now, including our very own swimming pool. It's been about two weeks now and so far we are close to getting adjusted to our new school. Although, I'm not going to lie, I miss some of my friends from D.C. Mom and Dad managed to catch a few snapshots along the way so here they are below.

BTW... Haddie and I made a pact to keep the blog updated more often too!

"Did you estimate this as part of the moving quote?"

"Now, that's a tape gun"
"Nana, you're crazy!"

"Nana, no one told me it would be this hot"

"Got anymore crackers Nana?"

"Nana, I dig your baby bath"

"Check it out Mama, I found a Lizard"

"Mama, I'll be right back.... I need to see what I can help the movers with"

"Sister found a quiet spot to take a nap while the movers finished"

"Haddie, tries but she just can't hang"

Boys on Bikes

Oh how I love this time of year!   This Saturday was my first bike ride of the season with my Daddy.   There is nothing like riding bikes (OK, lets call it like it really is.... being pulled by Daddy on his bike while I relax in the bike trailer, eat goldfish, drink juice and read some books) with my Daddy.   The best part of the ride is not the cool air breeze running thru my hair but the friendly people waving as they pass us by.   Check us out below... we even match (I'm sure Mommy had something to do with that secretly:-).  Happy riding everyone!

Love,
Emerson
"I couldn't believe it, Mommy almost let me wear my boots but then I changed to my crocs"
"hurry Mama, put my sunscreen on so that I can go"
 "Catch us if you can"
"Seriously Mom!" "We're on a mission, hurry up and take the picture"
"Check out the wheels on this ride"

Haddie's workout

I had a lot of fun this past Saturday dressed up in my tutu (compliments of the Francesca collection :-).   Mommy  and Daddy are insistent (O.K. really Mommy) that I work on my tummy time exercises so that I can start to prepare for crawling.   Big brother crawled at 6 months and walked at 9 months.   I'm 7 1/2 months and have no desire to even think about crawling.  I overheard Mommy telling Daddy that on one hand she is pushing for me to advance but on the other, she's happy that she doesn't have to put up the child gates yet.    I guess Mommy thought that if she put me in my tutu that I might feel pretty enough to get to crawling.  HA, do I have her fooled!   I'll crawl when I'm good and ready.... I can't be pressured :-).

Love,
Hadley

P.S. If you look close enough in some of my photos, you can see my two bottom teeth coming in!

"Daddy, hold steady.... I'm ready for my first position stance"
 "Daddy, shall we dance?"
"This is how a lady should sit"
 "time for a chew break"
"Hmmm... I wonder if I can get all these keys in my mouth at once?"
 "downward dog is next"
"I need a day at the spa after this workout"
"If I sleep just right, my hair won't get messed"

Spring has sprung!

Hadley and I couldn't be more excited that Spring is in the air.   The flowers and trees are blooming (watch out allergy sufferers), the smell of fresh cut grass and fresh rain makes you want to get outside and hunt bugs (well maybe Haddie might feel differently on that one), and the Easter bunny has visited our house!  What more can you ask for?   Oh wait, I think I hear Mama in the background asking for BBQ .... Nana can you ship us some :-).

Today was a busy day that started with a early morning visit from the Easter bunny.  You can see from the photos below that the Easter bunny must really like me.   Haddie on the other hand.... not so much.... Well maybe the Easter bunny just knows that she isn't able to eat candy yet so that's why all she got was a stuffed bunny.   Although, Haddie seemed happy with her pink bunny so whom am I to judge.   Later that morning we went to church.   Daddy and Mama thought they would keep us both in the pew with them today but that lasted a total of 15 min.   I got to go play in another room with my church buddies and with the trains that I love.  Hadley and Mama hung out between outside and the hallways and later joined Daddy towards the end of the service.   After church Haddie and I rested up before we went to visit Auntie in her new home in Annapolis, MD.   Auntie and Jacques have a new home now and invited us out for Easter dinner.  It was wonderful!   Besides the fact that I got to play with Jacques.... Auntie had Easter ham, deviled eggs, potato salad, lemon poppy seed cake.... the list goes on and on.  Daddy and Mama almost had several heart attacks since I really seem to be a magnet to Auntie's breakables.  I'm not sure why they panic, I didn't break anything.   Daddy and Mama also took turns chasing me and keeping me away from the Easter candy.   Haddie on the other hand just relaxed and took it all in.  Oh but the one thing that got Haddie super excited today was Jacques giving her puppy kisses.   She loves Jacques too!   Here are some photos of recent spring photos and Easter weekend.

We hope that your Easter weekend was a fun one too!

"I'm ready for my close up now"
" Please, please, no more pictures"
"In these boots, I can do anything"
"Emerson made this hat in school but, I really think it looks best on me."  "What do you think?"
"Let's just say, Mama wasn't happy that at school, Ms. Jennifer helped me  paint my Easter cookie today"
"Hmmm... I know that these are all suppose to fit together somehow...."
"Let's see... a lady bug wind up toy, check.... peeps, check.... chocolate bunny, a big check :-)... I love the Easter bunny!"
"Seriously, you mean I can't eat this?"  "Why does big brother get chocolate and I don't?"
"Mama, Scuba Steve needs a bigger pool to swim"
"Mama, when will you be done with the props... the bunny ears are throwing off my balance when I bounce"
"Do you think the Senate will let me use this photo for my name badge?"
"Hadley just isn't feeling it but Daddy and I just want to dance"
"So Daddy gave up beer for Lent and Haddie's the one that ends up with the beer on Easter... go figure"
"Auntie, you Rock!"  "We just loved your Easter dinner and fun festivities"
"Haddie wants to know when we're getting a dog" "Mama says when we live in a place that doesn't consist of mowing the lawn with a weed eater"
