A Spooktacular Affair to Remember

This weekend the Barr house had lots of fun getting ready for tonight's big event... TRICK OR TREATING!  Cousin Jessica came over and helped Haddie and I carve pumpkins.  Well, let's be honest, cousin Jessica carved our pumpkins while Haddie and I rode our bikes, played with sidewalk chalk and kicked the ball around.   Thank you cousin Jessica :-).

Today at school, Mom and Dad came to watch Haddie and I at our school parade and then we got to have a fun Halloween party afterwards that consisted of lots of sugar!  Needless to say, Mom wasn't much thrilled with that part.  At any rate, we had fun and went home to rest before the main event.  That's right folks, what I missed out on last year, I made up for this year.   Cousin Jessica, Daddy and I went trick or treating in our neighborhood.  There were lots of scary decorated houses, lots of kids, and most of all lots of treats!   Haddie is what I consider a "light weight" so she didn't come with us.... in fact, she was in bed before we even left the house.   Mom stayed behind to watch Haddie and Bob our cat ...oh and give out candy too :-).

Overall, I have to say that this years Halloween festivities was a huge success for the Barr family.   Haddie looked adorable in the Strawberry costume that I picked out for her and Mom finally wised up (after already buying two other Halloween costumes) and let me pick out my own costume... Chuck the Truck ... which we all know rocks!

I hope your Halloween was a spooktacular as ours!

Love,
Emerson & Haddie

"Seriously Jessica, you think Mom is going to let us do that?"

"Mom, do they make shirts with an XL size for the head?"
"Haddie, here let me show you how it's done"
"Ha ha.... I got the ball now big brother"
"Jessica, be very careful.... that knife is sharp"
"Jessica, yep, that looks about right"
"You wanna piece of me!"

"hmmmm.... this just isn't as good as the red one"
"Dad, put down the phone and lets boogie"
"For real Mom, we've got places to go"
 "TA DA!!!!"
"Here she is... Miss Strawberry herself"
"This lollipop... it's all I'll ever need"
"mmmm.... Cheetos, juice box, cookies.. (is Nana close by :)
 "Can we go yet?"
 "check out my loot"
" A perfect ending <3"

Haddie's 1st Birthday

My baby sister turned 1 years old yesterday.   I can't believe it's already been a year and oh what a year it's been!    Since we just moved to Austin a few weeks ago, it was exciting to have family at one of our birthdays.   Daddy took lots of pictures because lets face it, Mommy is not very good with the camera.  Here's what he came up with:

"Aunt Cookie made sister's cake... it was YUMMY!"

"Aunt Meredith, so what did you think of the potato salad?"
"Sister says that she plans on marrying Liam when she grows up"
"Oh yeah, I'm coming for you!"
"....on your marks... get set.... go"
"Mom, back away from the cake and nobody gets hurt"
"Yep, there's some vanilla in this for sure"
"Boy am I'm staying up late tonight"
"what you never saw a girl with frosting on her nose before"
"does this hat make my hair look big"
 "Jessica, you need a bandaid?"
 "Jessica, when you come next?"
"Nana, if you stop the flow of ice cream, you will not like what you see"
"Look at Pa Pa and Grandma... they're silly"
"Aunt Cookie, why don't you like your picture taken... you're beautiful!"
"So this is what I've been missing" "Can wait for Christmas!"

Long Time No See

It has been over four months since our last post and Hadley and I are so sorry about the delay. A lot has happened in the Barr household so time and access to our blog has been limited. At the end of August our family moved from the D.C. metro area to Austin, TX. Hadley, our parents and I have been here since August 31st and are working our way into getting settled and routines. Dad, Mom, Hadley and I drove over 1500 hundred miles with Bob our cat in one car... can you only imagine what that car ride was like :). At any rate, we made it and love all the space that we have now, including our very own swimming pool. It's been about two weeks now and so far we are close to getting adjusted to our new school. Although, I'm not going to lie, I miss some of my friends from D.C. Mom and Dad managed to catch a few snapshots along the way so here they are below.

BTW... Haddie and I made a pact to keep the blog updated more often too!

"Did you estimate this as part of the moving quote?"

"Now, that's a tape gun"
"Nana, you're crazy!"

"Nana, no one told me it would be this hot"

"Got anymore crackers Nana?"

"Nana, I dig your baby bath"

"Check it out Mama, I found a Lizard"

"Mama, I'll be right back.... I need to see what I can help the movers with"

"Sister found a quiet spot to take a nap while the movers finished"

"Haddie, tries but she just can't hang"

Boys on Bikes

Oh how I love this time of year!   This Saturday was my first bike ride of the season with my Daddy.   There is nothing like riding bikes (OK, lets call it like it really is.... being pulled by Daddy on his bike while I relax in the bike trailer, eat goldfish, drink juice and read some books) with my Daddy.   The best part of the ride is not the cool air breeze running thru my hair but the friendly people waving as they pass us by.   Check us out below... we even match (I'm sure Mommy had something to do with that secretly:-).  Happy riding everyone!

Love,
Emerson
"I couldn't believe it, Mommy almost let me wear my boots but then I changed to my crocs"
"hurry Mama, put my sunscreen on so that I can go"
 "Catch us if you can"
"Seriously Mom!" "We're on a mission, hurry up and take the picture"
"Check out the wheels on this ride"

Haddie's workout

I had a lot of fun this past Saturday dressed up in my tutu (compliments of the Francesca collection :-).   Mommy  and Daddy are insistent (O.K. really Mommy) that I work on my tummy time exercises so that I can start to prepare for crawling.   Big brother crawled at 6 months and walked at 9 months.   I'm 7 1/2 months and have no desire to even think about crawling.  I overheard Mommy telling Daddy that on one hand she is pushing for me to advance but on the other, she's happy that she doesn't have to put up the child gates yet.    I guess Mommy thought that if she put me in my tutu that I might feel pretty enough to get to crawling.  HA, do I have her fooled!   I'll crawl when I'm good and ready.... I can't be pressured :-).

Love,
Hadley

P.S. If you look close enough in some of my photos, you can see my two bottom teeth coming in!

"Daddy, hold steady.... I'm ready for my first position stance"
 "Daddy, shall we dance?"
"This is how a lady should sit"
 "time for a chew break"
"Hmmm... I wonder if I can get all these keys in my mouth at once?"
 "downward dog is next"
"I need a day at the spa after this workout"
"If I sleep just right, my hair won't get messed"
